Lie Sangbong Spring/Summer 2016 Collection at New York Fashion Week

Many girls grow up behind the pages of Vogue magazine and dreaming about what New York Fashion Week is like. I was certainly one of them. When I received my invitation to Lie Sangbong's show I literally cried, real, actual tears of joy. 

My first NYFW show was no disappointment, Lie Sangbong is a Korean fashion designer known for his architectural vision in design. His Spring-Summer 2016 collection entitled "Bojagi" is a study of modern lightness and geometric patchwork construction, the collection was presented in the midst of large scale dandelion sculptures by artist Dong-Shik Roe opening with a series of alpine white looks in linens and silks with transparent cutouts, origami-like folds, asymmetrical folds and contrasting hand stitching. Then a series of lightweight garments in various types of blue shades are slowly incorporated, ending with blacks.

"This season is all about combining and playing with fabrics," says Mr. Lie, "so it's almost as though through a unique mix of traditional and innovative materials, we're creating something remarkably new." 

I'll always remember my first NYFW show, thank you Mr. Lie only a true master could make architectural patchwork feel so airy.

Muchas niñas crecen detrás de las páginas de la revista Vogue y soñando con la Semana de la Moda de Nueva York. Yo era sin duda era una de ellas. Cuando recibí mi invitación para el show de Lie Sangbong literalmente lloré de la alegría y emoción.

Mi primer show de NYFW no fue ninguna decepción, Lie Sangbong es un diseñador coreano conocido por su visión arquitectónica en el diseño. Su colección Primavera-Verano 2016 titulada "Bojagi" es un estudio de ligereza moderna y construcción de mosaicos geométricos, la colección se presentó en medio de grandes esculturas de dientes de león por el artista Dong-Shik Roe, abriendo con una serie de looks en blanco y sedas con cortes transparentes y pliegues asimétricos similares al origami. Luego, una serie de prendas ligeras en diversos tonos de azules se incorporan lentamente, terminando con los negros.

"Esta temporada tiene que ver con la combinación y jugar con las telas," dice el Sr. Lie, "por lo que es casi como si a través de una mezcla única de materiales tradicionales e innovadores, estamos creando algo muy nuevo."

Siempre recordaré mi primer show de NYFW, gracias Sr. Lie sólo un verdadero maestro podría hacer el patchwork arquitectónico tan ligero.
