Lovely Tea Bags

During my teen years I had a fiery romance with coffee, we were a happy couple until I started cheating on it with an occasional cup of tea. Now my dates with coffee are minimal for I've discovered true love inside tea bags. Since everything homemade tastes better (for all the right reasons) I was so excited when I discovered how to make your own tea bags! You can mix your own blends or customize them for a special someone on a special occasion, the possibilities are endless!

Here's what you'll need: coffee filters, iris paper, a needle, a pen, loose tea of your choice (mine are Jamaica flowers), glue, twine in your favorite colors and glitter.

Step 1: Fold the coffee filter directly in half and cut a 6 by 5 cm rectangle.
Step 2: Thread your needle with twine and make a knot at the tips.

Step 3: Sew the longer sides of the bag, leaving the top side opened and long strings of twine for the tag. I used the back-hand stitch to secure them tightly (you don't want little pieces of tea swimming around your cup.)

Step 4: Fill you little tea bag with the loose tea.

Step 5: Fold the top sides for the iconic tea bag shape and sew a few stitches to secure the two halves.

Step 6: Using your iris paper create hearts (or any other shape you want). On one side I wrote cute words and on the other I glued glitter. When you're finished sandwich the twine ends between a pair, securing them with glue.

Now go heat some water up cause you're done!
